Translation Studies Workshop Series: Sponsored by the British Academy

A series of workshops designed to build capacity among the younger generation of university academics in the Arab World, Iran and Turkey was launched in 2011 by the Middle East and North Africa Panel (MENAP) of the British Academy. The initiative recognised that scholars in the region tend to have difficulty accessing information on the latest developments in the field. Capacity building at this level aims to create an environment where Arab, Turkish and Iranian colleagues are able to strengthen their research profile and publish in international outlets. The workshops were further intended to enhance the level of debate, crossing boundaries between different groups. The first two workshops were held in Amman in September 2011 and September 2013.

This video was made during the 2013 workshop and offers an overview of the initiative.
