Senior Lecturer /Lecturer/ Assistant Lecturer – Translation/Interpreting – The School of Humanities and Social Science,  (Ref.1415/068/01)
The creation of the School of Humanities and Social Science (SHSS) has its aim to provide foundations in humanities and social science through its teaching for undergraduate students to gain insights into the past, while enabling them to critically examine contemporary issues, and explore answers for a sustainable future, so that our students can be better positioned to respond to challenges facing China and the world. In the beginning years, SHSS offers core courses of the University, ranging from language courses to General Education foundation and elective courses, including also IT and PE courses. The curricula focus on developing students’ analytical abilities, critical comprehension, and effective communication skills which are essential to their further studies. In 2015, SHSS will launch two Master’s Programs, MA in Translation and Interpreting Studies (MAT&I) and MA in Simultaneous Interpreting (MASI) in response to the national and global needs for quality language service and higher level training in the learning and teaching of translation and interpreting.
As a response to the national and global needs for quality language service and high level training in the learning and teaching of translation and interpreting,SHSS has set up two Master of Arts Programmes, MA in Translation and Interpreting Studies (MAT&I),and MA in Simultaneous Interpreting (SI)starting in the 2015-16 academic year at CUHK(SZ).

Post Specification
The School of Humanities and Social Science at CUHK(SZ) invites applications for faculty positions in translation and interpreting studies and/or simultaneous Interpreting at the Senior Lecturer/Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer levels.
Applicants should have (i) a higher degree, at least up to Master’s level or above, in translation and interpreting studies and/or simultaneous Interpreting,and (ii) proven record of teaching excellence, and relevant experience in teaching training courses at postgraduate level.
 
The appointee will be responsible for (a) teaching courses as prescribed in the programme curricular; (b) designing e-learning materials; and (c) assisting in curriculum development and administrative assignments.
 
The appointee is expected to commence work around July 2015, in preparation for the start of teaching in September 2015.
