Books for Mosul

The University of Mosul, Iraq was severely damaged by ISIS during its occupation of the city, and he Central Library was burned to the ground.
Colleagues have mounted a campaign to re-establish the library by sending requests to some of the world’s leading universities and research institutes to donate books in specific fields. They are appealing to us in the fields of translation studies and linguistics to assist them as part of this campaign.
If you have relevant books and resources you are willing to donate towards rebuilding the Mosul University collection please contact mona.baker [at] manchester.ac.uk for further information about the address you should send them to. A package of books sent from Manchester has already arrived in Mosul, and the reliability of the address to ship the books to has therefore been confirmed.
Below is a video that documents some of the damage inflicted on the library, plus a couple of illustrative photographs.
