The Bachelor of Language is a new program within RMIT Vietnam, to commence in October of 2017 and we are looking for experienced lecturers in the disciplines of Translating and Interpreting to commence in June/July 2017, to lead syllabus and assessment design across multiple related courses.
Based in Ho Chi Minh City, the Senior Lecturer will contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the Centre. The incumbent is to make a significant contribution to the delivery of programs and to be actively involved in research, consulting and other professional activities. They will be required to develop, engage in and lead high quality research projects that are aligned with the University’s research focus areas to achieve success in attracting research funding and to produce high quality outputs.
As the inaugural staff on this new program a high level of autonomy, creativity and problem solving skills will be essential. Opportunities to develop original research in the area of Translating and Interpreting are broad as a result of the unique context of an Australian University operating in Vietnam. As the program develops, Senior Lecturers will have opportunity to assist with all aspects of program delivery including curriculum expansion, program logistics, industry connections, staffing and will be encouraged to apply for leadership positions as they arise.
To be considered for this position you will have the ability to prepare and deliver programs at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, including online delivery, course coordination and the ability to produce high quality curriculum or program materials. In addition you will have the capacity to work effectively with and to negotiate sensitively with students. You will bring with you an established track record and recognition for quality research outputs to contribute to the Discipline and School research areas evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links.
REQUIREMENTS:
PhD or equivalent Doctoral qualification in relevant discipline
To meet Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) requirements, all non-Vietnamese academic candidates must have at least 5 years’ relevant experience, teaching in a University environment
English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS 7.0 (or equivalent)
Non-Vietnamese candidates must also meet the requirements of the Vietnamese Work Permit process.
